How do I know if continuing education is right for me?
Coaches who are serious about their craft work on their skills, even after earning their credential. Building good habits around your coaching and your coaching practice helps you serve your clients at the highest possible level.

Here’s the process:
- Identify an area of emphasis for your coach development.
- Set goals to sharpen your skills, including measurements and projected outcomes.
- Committing to ongoing personal development means finding the right learning situations, partnerships to facilitate change, and accountability structures.
- Execute your plan.
- Apply for your Credential Renewal!
CoachNet has options available to coaches include additional training, a mentor relationship, or the new field of coaching supervision.
Maintaining your ICF credential also requires ongoing educational credits to maintain your credential.
40 hours are required for renewal. These continuing education hours come in three categories: Core Competency, Resource Development, and Mentor Coaching.
- Core Competency Hours: Advanced coach training that directly relates to or expands upon the ICF Core Competencies.
- Resource Development Hours: Training in skills that contribute to a coach’s professional development (e.g., personal development, coaching tools or assessments, business building, or other material) that falls outside the ICF Core Competencies).
- Mentor Coaching: Mentor coaching is defined as receiving coaching on your coaching, and it must be directly connected to the 11 ICF Core Coaching Competencies. Mentor Coaches focus on applicants’ coaching skills, rather than coaching them on practice building, life balance or other topics.
If you have an ACC, you must also complete a mentor coaching relationship. CoachNet’s group mentor coaching cohorts are 10 hours…seven can be in a group setting, and a minimum of three must be one-on-one in an individual mentor coaching relationship.
All the credentials require that renewal candidates complete three hours of training in coaching ethics. The ICF offers three free hours of training in Coaching Ethics at this link. Check out the ICF Credential Renewal policies here.

The CoachNet CCE Pathway offers affordable training for coaches who are renewing their credentials.
You can mix and match courses from the Integrated Coach Training catalog. Any combination that adds up to 40 hours works! (Remember, CoachNet courses are offered as 20-hour anchor courses, 8-hour lab courses, and 4-hour short courses.)
If you need mentor coaching to renew your credential, be sure to choose the option that includes mentor coaching!
